WEAVING THROUGH TRADITION

This collection of work evolved from a journey along the River Dee from Bangor on Dee to the river’s source about Bala. Mai's journey was documented using photos, drawings and 3d sketches.

"I focused on the path the river takes and how it has shaped the landscape and the lives of the communities near its banks from the makers of baskets, fish traps and coracles to the brightly coloured kayaks and wading flyfishers".

This collection of work formed part of a residency at Oriel Davies and Ruthin Craft Centre.

‘Nets’ was winner of the Josef Herman Award, The People’s Prize at the National Eisteddfod.
