SOAP BOX
Mai designed this creative assignment and community project for Ty Pawb, Wrexham. It was in response to COVID 19 during the first national lockdown. It relates directly to our present global emergency, social isolation and the measures we all take to protect ourselves and our communities. It focused on a simple and accessible object - soap. It included recipes, demonstrations of how to make it and creating mini artworks from it.
Traditionally, soapboxes were used in public places for individuals to stand on to have their voices heard. The aim of this project was to reinforce the connectivity of rural and town communities in a shared action for the common good. This assignment was developed into a community arts and health programme for Ty Pawb’s, Useful Art Gallery.
