TAKING SHAPE

Mai designed and delivered a series of projects with art workshops for Betsi Cadwalader Health Board Trust as part of their Arts in Health and Wellbeing ‘Creative Well’ Programme. This series of projects at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd were designed to engage and empower the staff, patients and visitors. The aim was to improve and enhance  the healing environment in and around the hospital during its redevelopment.

Based on flowers with healing properties, this series of large-scale artworks were developed by young people following an initial consultation process with staff, patients and visitors to the hospital. They combined drawn and painted botanical studies of plants and seeds with collaged images of hospital equipment to form part of the plants structure. These images were then digitally combined to create large sectional artworks which were used as mobile way and path finders around the hospital.
